Afghan consulate in Peshawar closed
Consulate has been closed for unspecified time in protest against lack of cooperation from Pakistani security forces

The Consulate General of Afghanistan in Peshawar has been closed for an unspecified time in protest against ‘lack of cooperation’ from Pakistani security forces.
An official at the mission confirmed to The Express Tribune the consulate closed operations on Tuesday after vehicles of their diplomatic staff were stopped at a security checkpoint.
“The vehicles were stopped even though they had diplomatic registration numbers,” he claimed, adding the mission had stopped working to register protest with the Pakistan government.
Hamid Karzai to visit Pakistan next month
Sources in the Afghan Embassy also confirmed the development. “We closed the consulate because of mistreatment of some diplomats in Peshawar by some army personnel,” one source told The Express Tribune. "A formal complaint has been lodged with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the army as well," the source added.
