The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had addressed a letter to the SHC CJ to take notice of the director's disappearance. The corporation's law officer, Sultan Ahmed, said Baloch had left home for the office on May 27, when he mysteriously went missing and since then his whereabouts are unknown.
The lawyer informed the court that the officer was involved in action against land grabbing, illegal encroachments and china-cutting. While converting the KMC letter into a petition, the CJ had issued notices to the home secretary, IG and others to file comments.

During Tuesday's proceedings, the IG appeared with SSP investigation Zulfiqar Mehar, AIG legal Ghulam Shabbir Memon, DSP legal Mazhar Alvi and the Aziz Bhatti SHO. The law officer of the Rangers was also present. During the proceedings, law officers for both the law enforcement agencies filed their comments.
In the reply filed on behalf of the Rangers authorities, it was stated that the paramilitary force had neither detained nor arrested Baloch. In their separate replies, SSP East and Aziz Bhatti SHO said a case had already been registered on the complaint of the missing director's relative, Abdul Karim. They added that a request had also been made to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell and the Citizens-Police Liaison Cell to help trace the missing officer.
The IG told the court that all efforts were being made for Baloch's recovery, adding that SSP Mahar was personally supervising the investigation. The police chief assured that weekly reports will be submitted to the court for its perusal.
