President Obama’s visit to Hiroshima

Letter May 31, 2016
It is time to mitigate global problems through diplomatic gestures, cordial visits, strong strategies and good rapport

MUMBAI: US President Barack Obama’s recent visit to Hiroshima is significant. The historical visit is like none other in US history. President Obama’s call for a world without nuclear weapons is welcome and must be appreciated. Countries the world over have encountered a lot of suffering in various forms and on many fronts. Such clarion calls, like Obama’s, will to some extent heal the world’s wounds of the past.

But at the same time, countries are in dire need of experts in order to face the future challenges head on. In other words, it is time to mitigate global problems through diplomatic gestures, cordial visits, strong strategies and good rapport. Such steps by world leaders must be welcomed at a time when there is a lot of disharmony among nations.
