World Boxing Council Silver welterweight champion Amir Khan will be holding a high-end charity event, under the aegis of the Amir Khan Trust, from June 2 to raise funds for drilling two wells in Thar.
The event’s organisers revealed that the international boxer’s tour will stretch over three days with a meet-and-greet at Dolmen Mall taking place on May 31, followed by a public workout at the Frere Hall the next day.
The main event, which will feature eight international boxers, will take place on June 2 at Pearl Continental hotel.

The main event will feature seven international boxers, including Amir Khan’s brother Haroon known as Harry King Khan. Tasif Khan, Gallagher Dayle, Jody Meikle, Stuart Maddox, Francis Peter Douglas Croes and Phil Townley will participate in the matches at PC. The visit of the international boxers for charity event is also supported by the British and Irish Boxing Authority (BIBA) from the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
“It is a fund-raising event to drill two water wells in Thar,” the organisers told The Express Tribune. “The main event will be properly recorded as Khan wants to bring international boxing to Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, hospitality partners of Amir Khan Trust, Pearl Continental Hotels, revealed that the charges for the Main Fight Night are set at Rs150,000 for a table of 10 people.
Addressing the media at a press conference Khan said,” Our youth posseses immense potential but they lack opportunities and guidance in the field of sports. The idea is to bring international boxing to Pakistan and to support world class entrainment and exposure of boxing in the country.”
“The Amir Khan foundation has been working globally to eradicate poverty and facilitate in providing basic necessities of life to the underprivileged,” he added.
Regarding the building of wells, the boxer said, “Thar has been victimised with a number of sad incidents, including poverty and lack of clean drinking water, which has resulted in a massive death toll. With this initiative we have played our role in bringing a positive change to the society and the tremendous response by our partners and donors has further elevated the cause.”
The Amir Khan Foundation has been working several projects, including provision of clean water, nutritious food packs, and emergency aid to help improve the lives of poor people all over the world.
“Every day, we are working tirelessly to support the most vulnerable, including orphans who have nowhere to call home and nobody to care for them. By working closely with our partners we have created a flagship project, to build a full orphan home complex in one of the poorest parts of the world, The Gambia,” a statement from the foundation said.
