Qalandar’s Urs: 14 heatstroke deaths recorded

The three-day Urs celebrations of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar concluded on Saturday evening in Sehwan town of Jamshoro district. Around 14 people died of heatstroke and one in an accidental fireworks blast in four days.  Hundreds of thousands of devotees visited the small town to express reverence to the 13th century saint and take part in the celebrations. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah attended the concluding ceremony on Saturday evening. Ten people including a woman and a boy, had died in the two days which preceded the official inaugural of the Urs by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan on Thursday.
