The bureau reviewed the efficiency of some of its internal anti-corruption systems, such as its monitoring and evaluation system, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for investigation officers, and an internal accountability mechanism (IAM) to weed out inefficient personnel.
The zero-tolerance policy was also reiterated in the meeting.
The accountability bureau also decided to give priority to cases which are categorised as normal (Rs100-200million), complex (Rs500-1,000 million) and mega (Rs1 billion and above) cases, in the meeting.
NAB has also set up a Special Integrity Management Cell at NAB Headquarters, and established its first Forensic Science Laboratory in NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad Regional Bureau. As part of an anti-corruption drive, NAB has also collaborated with various government institutes such as the State Bank of Pakistan, the health ministry, and Pakistan Post, to display the message ‘Say No to Corruption’ in their workplaces, on their bills, and forms.
A recently signed agreement with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was also discussed. The agreement will see NAB establish 10,000 character building societies in educational institutions throughout the country.
