“Ramazan package is under consideration,” an official in the district administration informed the APP.
He said that the ICT Administration had also decided to monitor prices at weekly bazaars and markets during the month.
The purpose is to curb profiteering and regular monitoring of prices of essential commodities, the official said.
He said that price checking teams headed by magistrates were being activated for conducting visits to the markets and weekly bazaars to ensure availability and smooth supply of food items at fixed rates to the consumers.
The administration will establish sasta bazaars and 35 fair price shops in rural and urban areas of the capital during the month of Ramazan with the cooperation of traders.
“This step will ensure provision of food items at less than whole sale rates,” he maintained. A meeting, the official said, had also been planned with traders to voluntarily reduce prices of various commodities.
