Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday said no military in the world has been able to synergise effects as much as the Pakistan Army has single-handedly.

Addressing the participants at Command and Staff College in Quetta, General Raheel said he is proud of commanding, dynamic and resolute force, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said.

Army chief visits soldiers who lost eyesight during Zarb-e-Azb

During the address, chief of army staff emphasised on Pakistan's resolve, as well as determination to confront the global phenomenon of terrorism and extremism.

Delving into details regarding the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb, the army chief said it has now entered the combing stage. "He explained how we had transited from hard core kinetic operations to intelligence-based operations and now combing," DG ISPR quoted the army chief as saying.

However, referring to the conclusion of operations, General Raheel said, there is still a lot of work left to do in order to reach the final objective.

Drone strike on Pakistani soil detrimental to relations with US: Army chief

On Wednesday General Raheel met wounded soldiers of Pakistan Army who lost their eyesight due to IED blasts during the continuing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

During his visit to to the Armed Forces Institute of Ophthalmology (AFIO), General Raheel paid tribute to their sacrifice and valour, saying, “We never give up and never quit”.

To date, as many as 179 soldiers have lost their complete or partial eyesight due to IED blasts,” said an ISPR statement.

During his visit, the COAS was given a detailed briefing on the pilot project of state-of-the-art Visual Rehabilitation Center for visually-disabled soldiers, which includes a computer lab, Braille, vocational and recreational facilities.

pakistani1414918 | 8 years ago | Reply There were some drills held a few years back amongst some militaries and Pakistan came first. If he cited that he'd have some credibility, but he makes it sound as if Pakistan's military is 'invincible' when it's not.

Pakistan gave India a run for their money in most wars despite India being so much bigger in size. In 1962 India faced an enemy it's own size. The result is omitted forever from Indian textbooks. Turning a blind eye to your own history, you are only destined to repeat it. So let me educate you instead. 1948 you tried to invade kashmir which was a princely state at that time, and probably would have succeeded had it not signed the accession treaty and called for Indian Armys help. So your "objective" to liberate failed 1965 your so called rogue elementa launched op girbaltar with direct help from pakistani regulars whose objective was to again invade kashmir. Instead were pushed back by Indian backlash to the outskirts of Lahore. Again the "objective" was not met and in military terms a defeat while India'sobjecyive was to defend and hence it succeeded. 1971, ask your erstwhile bangla brethren who won that war...and i saw you invoking the Shimla agreement multiple times so let me remind you that this is the same agreement that prevents you from involving the UN into the kashmir diapute as it clearly states it is a bilateral issue. So no, Shimla Agreement is a symbol of triumph for Indian Diplomacy. 1999 well the dried up 90k abandoned bodies spoke for themselves.... Bottomline- You do not know your own History.

He is the one who has restored peace across Pakistan including in Karachi which was worst affected by terrorism. Focus now need to be on strengthening Pakistan's defence beyond any proportions at par with the world powers. So that, no one dare to fly drones in our air space. Request would be to eliminate all foreign and indigenous terrorists from our soil whether good or bad. Rely solely on our soldiers rather than on any other means.

Idea to separation was taken in 1969 by Pakistani military, that is why they surrendered. Idea of a war is different for you then a Muslims. Hindus wealthy from 1947 is down from 85% to 70% and population down from 75% to 66% and territory 100% to 66%. What India gained in 1965 war and 1971 war? India has to worry about Bangladeshi infiltration which is tune to 35 to 50 million people. Assam Muslims population rose from 12% to 33% and so do in West Bengal. Let me put it again - the wars are won diplomatically or politically, winning a military war has no meaning until or unless not converted into political/diplomatic win. Had India won 1965 there was no need of 1971 and then Siachin and then Kargil also. Ahmed Shah Abdallah conquered Delhi with just 1700 solders against a 30,000 well equipped army. It is time to end this war nonsense and stick to education. This is their strong point. The move against Lahore in 1965 was meant as a response to Gibraltar, to stop Pakistan's assault in Kashmir in its tracks. Operation Gibraltar failed spectacularly as Pakistan had to rush its troops to meet the threat looming over Lahore. India never made any moves to capture PoK till now, not even when it had the chance to deal a double blow in 1971. India may have assisted the insurgency in East Pakistan. But it was only after endless refugees began to pour into India from the East, and after Pakistan's pre-emptive strikes from the West that India intervened militarily in the war. Pakistan lost its half, and India no longer have to worry about an attack from the east in the event of a hostility with Pakistan. And most significantly, it has Bay of Bengal all to itself for all its strategic needs. So, who really lost all the wars?

Josheela | 8 years ago | Reply Absolutely correct. We must understand that Pakistan's military is a defensive force and unlike Indian army, has no offensive or 'occupational' desires. The defense of Lahore from a 'blitzkrieg' launched by a three times bigger India in September 1965 by a few hundred infantry men led by no other than Raheel Sharif's uncle Major Raja Aziz Bhatti is well documented. So in my opinion yes our army has no match in the entire world. And in the words of Raheel Sharif 'Cold' start or 'Hot' start by any military in the world can be and will be defended by the full might of the Pakistani military.

Nehru never wanted J&K as part of India. If Nehru was pacifist so do Gandhi. 1965 : Both India and Pakistan accepted stalemate. 1971 : Simla agreement accepts defeat of India. India may not have lost the war with Pakistan but always lost politically or end result of war was always accepting defeat politically except 1999 Kargil.

You once the ruler of Kashmir legally acceeded to India, Indian army got involved. In fact, Pakistani forces had advanced much further into Kashmir than the current LoC but Indian army made them retreat to the current LoC. As far as 1965 is concerned, even though Pakistan was the aggressor, India had a net gain of 1650 sqkm in that war & Indian army reached Lahore unopposed before retreating voluntarily in anticipation of a ceasefire.

Maharajah Hari Singh, who was toying with the idea of independence, got spooked by the invasion and signed instrument of accession with India to prevent the 'liberation' of Kashmir valley as well. Indian troops rushed into the valley and prevented its invasion by Pakistan. The mistake the 'pacifist' Nehru did was that he did not order the Army to continue the war and retake PoK. 1965: Pakistan launched 'Operation Gibraltar' to capture Kashmir confident that India was severely weakened by the 1962 debacle. Instead they were in for a rude shock when India escalated the war and came dangerously close to capturing Lahore. The 'aggressors' became the 'victims' and had their work cut out by fending off an unexpected counterattack to their heartland. 1971: Nothing to say. The outcome speaks for itself. If India ever really 'lost' a war, that was against China in 1962. Period.
