Fashion Parade ‘16: Pakistani designers to showcase in London
Event will be held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel
KARACHI:
Some of the top names from the Pakistani fashion scene are set to take London by storm with the upcoming Fashion Parade 2016.
Designers from Bangladesh and India will also be present at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge to showcase their offerings, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
Couturier Faiza Samee said she is thrilled to be showing at the event. “I’ve created a collection specifically for this show and I am very pleased with the way it’s coming together. The collection is a juxtaposition of pattern and colour, reflecting the face of today’s fashion with a fusion of silhouettes and a variety of shapes and lengths,” she said, adding, “Like me, they are very fastidious about the finer details and put in a lot of effort to make sure everything is the best it can possibly be.”
Saira Rizwan considers the platform ideal for local designers to connect with the broader market. “The collection that I will be presenting is called ‘Omorfi’. It means beautiful in Greek. We took inspiration from the beautiful city of Santorini.”
Play of colour: Models flaunt bridal, formal wear at ramp event
Seher Tareen of Studio S is another force to reckon with. Her label takes inspiration from ballet. “The Russian ballet swan lake and the dreamy paintings of Edgar Degas are in special focus,” she said.
Another participant, Raishma, says she is ecstatic to be a part of the parade this year. “It’s great to have this opportunity to able to showcase my pret and couture collections.”
Amongst other notables, HSY will be showcasing his ‘Be Yourself’ collection and Ali Xeeshan will be paying tribute to singing icon Prince. Nomi Ansari, Hira Shah, Khushboo and Mehreen Noorani are also part of the Pakistani delegation.
