The tribunal, headed by Justice Attiqur Rehman, directed Pims Administrator Dr Fazle Maula to appear in person on May 26. It also directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to place two more containers for solid waste dumping in the proximity of Pims and ensure disposal on a daily basis.
Last month, the tribunal directed Pak-EPA to visit the hospital and present a detailed report on hospital waste disposal. The team visited different units of Pims including the burn centre, MCH, emergency, and operation theatres on May 20 and submitted a report on Tuesday.
The team reported major violations of hospital waste management rules, including the absence of an incinerator and improper disposal of infectious waste. The team also reported that a garbage container placed by the CDA was full and had not been collected from. It was also reported that operation theatres were in poor shape and infectious waste was being disposed of in sewage lines.
