Scotland Yard team visits FIA headquarters

Detectives were expected to meet JIT probing the murder case of MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq

ISLAMABAD: A six-member team of the Scotland Yard on Monday arrived in Islamabad and visited the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters, source said.

The detectives were expected to meet the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the murder case of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq and money-laundering allegations against the party, sources said. Key suspects in Dr Farooq murder case were facing trial in Pakistan and are currently in jail.

According to reports, an official of the Scotland Yard had arrived in the capital two days ago. The team is expected to stay in Pakistan for a week. The detectives and Pakistani investigators were likely to share evidence and statements of the witnesses.

The Scotland Yard team also intends to share some evidence with FIA official Shahid Hayat, who is investigating the money laundering case against MQM.
