KARACHI: Pakistan teams were off to winning starts in the Asian Snooker Team Championship being played in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Former IBSF world champion Mohammad Asif and Asjad Iqbal, who are representing Pakistan (1), had a tough start as they fought hard to triumph 3-2 against Iraq. They then won 3-1 against UAE (2) to secure a second victory within the same day.

On the other hand, Pakistan (2), comprising Babar Masih and Mohammad Bilal, thrashed Saudi Arabia 3-0 and also whitewashed Bahrain 3-0.

Meanwhile, it was a disappointing end for Pakistani cueists in the Asian 6-Red Championship as both Asif and Babar lost their quarter-final matches.

Asif went down 6-2 to India’s Pankaj Advani, while Afghanistan’s Rais Senzhai won 6-3 against Babar.
