Coming fiscal year: PBM asks govt for Rs7.5b grant

The PBM, Abid said, was committed to provide wheelchairs to every disabled person in the country

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Baitul Mall (PBM) Managing Director Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh has said that the PBM has proposed to the Finance Ministry for a grant of Rs7.5 billion in the budget for the next fiscal year 2016-2017.

The PBM was in the process to establish thalassemia centres in Balochistan, besides introducing the latest trends for disbursement of grants among the deserving, he said, while talking to the APP.

He said that the PBM had already started bio-metric system for fair distribution of funds.

Barrister Abid said that due to the PBM’s efforts, prices of cancer and hepatitis medicines had been reduced by 70 per cent.

With the cooperation of international organisations, the department had facilitated around 832,858 people, he added.

The PBM, Abid said, was committed to provide wheelchairs to every disabled person in the country, whereas, white canes and hearing aids were also being provided.
