ISLAMABAD: Students of the Arid Agriculture University staged a play at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Friday as part of the ongoing drama festival.

The play revolves around two main characters; a judge and his wife who can’t talk.

As the story unfolds, the judge hopes and wishes that his wife starts talking and after various attempts at different doctors, he finds a friend making him realize of the benefits of a wife who can’t speak.

Since the judge is unable to understand how lucky he is, his friend suggests of a doctor who is bound to treat the judge’s wife’s disability. Elated, the judge hires the referred doctor who successfully treats the disabled wife and she starts talking.

Since his wife hasn’t been able to speak all her life, she talks like a never stopping robot without making much sense and since the judge is used to her quietness, he realizes what a mess he got himself in.

After getting sick of her mindless chatter, he hires the doctor again to make her stop talking.

On paper this story seems as pointless as the judge’s wife’s chatter and it truly was but the writer deserves credit for writing hilarious dialogues especially between the judge and his wife that left the audience in stitches.

The director also deserves credit for making sure that the execution of an otherwise dragged storyline is such that it becomes entertaining to watch and retains the interest of the viewer throughout.
