KARACHI: Many airlines arriving and departing from the Islamabad international airport have rescheduled their flights for the next two Mondays (May 23 and 30) because of the closure of runway on technical grounds, announced the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Saturday.

The runway at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport would remain closed for five hours from 1pm to 6pm on both Mondays, the CAA said.

“The CAA has dispatched NOTAM (Notice for Airman) to all the airlines so that they can reschedule their flights,” a CAA spokesman said. “All these airlines have adjusted their schedules.”

“Owing to the closure of Islamabad airport’s runway ... Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has rescheduled its flights during this (1-6pm) time period. Passengers are requested to reconfirm their flight timings,” said a PIA spokesman.
