A visually impaired woman previously victim to an acid attack was allegedly gang-raped in Layyah district's Kot Sultan area on Saturday, Express News reported.

According to reports, the woman lost her eye sight in 2011 when she was attacked with acid. Despite her family's poor financial conditions, the victim was undergoing medical treatment.

The woman was approached by three men while she was en route to the hospital, who told her they could arrange 'zakat' for her. Hearing this, she followed them to a house where the suspects allegedly gang-raped her.

Following the incident, the victim without seeking anyone's help, lodged a complaint against the suspected rapists at Kot Sultan police station.


"Three men, Younis, Khalid, and Saleem gang-raped me," she told the police in her statement.

According to SHO Kot Sultan police station, following the victim's statement, a case has been registered against the suspects on charges of kidnapping and rape. The woman has since been shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Speaking to Express News, DPO Layyah Captain (rtd) Ali Zia said, "A special team comprising of the CIA and police officials, has been formed under the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to conduct raids in order to arrest the suspects named by the woman."

The area has been cordoned off and a search operation has commenced, he added.
