Electricity supply: Govt upgrading power lines, grids
The ministry also appealed to consumers to conserve electricity and avoid its excessive consumption
ISLAMABAD:
The government is upgrading the electricity transmission system across the country, said Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif. In a tweet, he said new power lines and grids would help add more electricity to the system. The total generation of electricity stood at around 16,700 megawatts against the demand for 19,000MW, a shortfall of 2,300MW. Asif said despite a severe heat wave, the load management had remained within the announced schedule of six hours in urban areas and eight hours in rural areas, while for the industrial sector, there was no load-shedding. The ministry also appealed to consumers to conserve electricity and avoid its excessive consumption.
