LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a private company for the provision of oxo biodegradable chemicals that would be used for the manufacture of environment-friendly bags.

LWMC Managing Director Nusrat Tufail Gill said the company always looked for greener and environment-friendly solutions to many of its initiatives in solid waste management. He said maintaining cleanliness was a top priority of the LWMC. “We have taken many steps to further this cause.” Disposing of waste in harmless and environment-friendly manners had been one of its prime concerns since its inception in 2010, he told reporters after signing the MoU with D2W (Business Dynamics Pvt Ltd), the distributor of oxo biodegradable additive. “Turkish contractors collecting and transporting waste are always encouraged to use biodegradable waste bags so that their harmful effects on soil could be minimised,” Gill said. Under the MoU, D2W will provide Turkish contractors the oxo biodegradable chemical for use in the preparation of plastic bags.  D2W Managing Director Amir Younus was also present on the occasion.
