OTTAWA: President of Cricket Canada Ranjit Saini, has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to work out the visa issues that have delayed the visas to three players of Pakistan origin in their World Cup squad.

Although the Canadian team has left for Dubai for a 10-day training camp, vice-captain Rizwan Cheema, Khurram Chohan and Hamza Tariq have not yet received permission to travel to India. Hence the team was forced to go ahead without them. The visas were applied for before the team visited India in November for the pre-World Cup preparations and the three players have still not received the green light.

Newspaper reports earlier put Chelsea’s bid at £35 million for 26-year-old Torres who is under contract at Liverpool until 2013. However he is widely reported to have a buy-out clause in his deal which will allow him to leave if another team matches his £50 million valuation. The clause was believed to have been inserted as a concession to Torres after Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League last season amid uncertainty over the club’s ownership. AFP
