Front desks at police stations to be operational by Monday

These desks will be directly monitored by the DPOs and the RPOs

LAHORE: Front desks at 202 police stations will become operational by May 23. The chief minister will formally inaugurate the facility. This was stated at the regional police officers’ (RPOs) conference held on Wednesday. The desks will allow complainants to lodge their reports without any fear.

Punjab Police Inspector General Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera chaired the conference. The IGP was told that for these front desks, 578 senior station assistants (SSA) and police station assistants (PSA) had been recruited through the Punjab Public Service Commission. “The SSAs and PSAs include 422 men and 156 women. They have completed six-week training pertaining to policing and laws. The process of their posting to their respective districts has been completed,” the meeting was informed.

As many as 74 front desks are being set up in Lahore, six in Sheikhupura, three in Sahiwal, 20 in Gujranwala, 18 in Rawalpindi, 24 in Faisalabad, eight in Sargodha, 15 in Multan, two each in Dera Ghazi Khan, and Muzaffargarh, five in Bahawalpur, and 10 in Rahim Yar Khan. These desks will be directly monitored by the DPOs and the RPOs.

The SSAs and PSAs will be independent of the SHO and muharrar at the police station.
