Land scam: Minhaj Qazi to face corruption charges

The suspects collected around Rs320 million from people for booking and others charges.

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed on Wednesday a Rs320-million corruption reference against suspected hitman Minhaj Qazi and four others before the accountability courts' administrative judge.

According to the reference, Qazi in collusion with his associates, some of whom were women, committed fraud with the public in name of a housing scheme located off the Northern Bypass.

The project, Areesha City, was initiated some years back in Gadap Town by the suspects, Shoaib Naeem, Zeenat Naeem, Suhail Ilyas, Noreen Shoaib, Shumaila and Qazi in name of 'providing poor an affordable housing', claimed NAB.

The suspects collected around Rs320 million from people for booking and others charges. Later, they did not allot anything, the reference stated.

The judge approved the reference for hearing and asked the anti-graft watchdog to present the suspects before him to initiate the case proceedings.
