KARACHI: Imran Abbas has had Bollywood offers on his table since 2004. However, sour relations between India and Pakistan and contracts with local film directors often kept him away from doing multiple projects across the border. Despite signing two new Bollywood films, the actor is still disappointed at the Muzaffar Ali film not being able to release in Pakistan.

“I wish it had been released in cinemas across Pakistan,” Abbas told The Express Tribune. “Many other films were being released the same week so we could not. But after watching  Mah-e-Mir I realised Janisaar would have been well received by the audiences.”

Did you know? Imran Abbas was offered a role in Katrina-Aditya's Fitoor

Abbas did not deny the possibility of Janisaar being screened in Pakistan, at a later stage, adding, “Muzaffar sahib often visits Pakistan, and he could be in talks with some TV channel to release it. But for now I think he wants the viewership of the film to be limited to a few people.”

Nonetheless, Abbas dubbed working on Janisaar as an amazing experience altogether. “Muzaffar sahib is an institution in himself. You get to learn a lot from him. Pernia Qureshi is a great co-star and a brilliant dancer. I played the part of a prince from Lucknow, and I consider it to be my best film role to date.”

In the past, Abbas was offered multiple Bollywood projects, including Aashiqui 2, but didn’t sign them. Finally in 2014, Abbas made his Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt’s Creature 3D, starring opposite Bipasha Basu. Currently he is busy with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in which he is making a guest appearance. He has also been offered two more untitled projects across the border, both of which will be love stories.
