Upcoming budget: Sindh govt to allocate Rs10b for Karachi

LG minister says grant will be used for construction of roads, widening Shara e Faisal

KARACHI: In the upcoming budget, Karachi will get a special grant of Rs10 billion, which will be used for the construction of roads in the city and widening Sharae Faisal, announced local government (LG) minister Jam Khan Shoro at a press conference at Civic Centre on Tuesday.

He further said the Sindh government is planning to construct an underpass at Star Gate near Airport and another near Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Taking credit for the Malir 15 Flyover, whose one track was completed over a span of three years, he said that his government has successfully completed that project. Talking about the Golimar Underpass, whose construction was at a halt for more than a year, he claimed that it will be completed in three months.





As for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, he said that the government has already provided them a Rs200-million grant.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party MNA Faryal Talpur, who was accompanying Shoro at the press conference, admitted that garbage is present in Karachi and promised that the government will remove it. She said that she is a citizen of Karachi and takes responsibility of the civic problem. She further said that there are always water crises in Karachi in the months of June and July, which will also be resolved.
