Amid delays: Councillors protest in Swabi

SWABI: Muttahida Councillors Ittehad Khadokhel protested over delays in releasing funds allocated for the local government system. The councillors warned if their demands were not fulfilled, they would initiate a massive demonstration across the province. The protest was held in Swabi on Monday. The demonstration was led by tehsil nazim Gulzar Hussain. The protesters wore black armbands and shouted slogans against the provincial government. Hussain criticised the government, saying it had made hollow promises with the people. “The government has failed to fulfil the promises made to local representatives,” he added. Hussain said PTI was spending the development budget over processions and sit-ins.
