A large number of schools across Fata were closed on April 20 after teachers took to the streets to raise their voice against the government’s failure to upgrade them. They held demonstrations in Islamabad and protested outside the press club.
The protesters claimed teachers from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were upgraded in 2012 while instructors from Fata were ignored. Many of them said they had even spoken to the relevant officials about the matter. However, their efforts proved futile.
As per the notification, upgradation of teachers had been approved by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The protests ended after the announcement. However, agitated parents are unhappy with both the performance and protest of the teachers.
