During his meeting with his Chinese counterpart at military headquarters in Beijing, the army chief congratulated the latter on assumption of command of the newly-established army headquarter, the Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.

Both the leaders discussed measures to improve military to military cooperation, exponentially enhanced training exchanges, defence technical and intelligence sharing and the security of CPEC, the military's media wing added.
Earlier, upon his arrival at Beijing on a two-day official visit, General Raheel was presented a guard of honour by the Chinese Army. During his visit, the army chief is expected to hold meetings with senior political and military leadership of China, according to ISPR.
General Raheel’s visit comes days after he called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House in an apparent attempt to revive civil-military relations following Panama leaks.

During the meeting, the two leaders had expressed satisfaction over improved security in the country and as well as in Afghanistan, with particular reference to the recovery of Ali Haider Gilani. The meeting was facilitated by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar as well as some Corps Commanders and retired military officers.
In a veiled reference to Panama Papers on April 19, General Raheel stressed an “across-the-board accountability” and uprooting corruption to ensure the prosperity, solidarity and integrity of Pakistan. The army chief had also assured that armed forces of the country will fully support every meaningful effort in that direction to ensure a better future for our next generations.
