Raining death: One dead, three injured in Bannu

According to the meteorological department, there was no loss of life or injury in most parts of the province

PESHAWAR/ JAMRUD: A girl died while three others, including two children were injured in rain-related incidents in Bannu.  According to a report by the district disaster management officer in Bannu, the casualties occurred when trees fell in the region.

A fresh wave of rain was followed by strong winds in various parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday afternoon. The change in weather brought a much-needed respite from the scorching heat as temperatures dropped from 35 degrees centigrade to 29 degrees centigrade.

A deluge was witnessed in Peshawar, Kohat, Khyber Agency, Swat, Chitral and Nowshera.

Thunderstorms disrupted power supply for an hour in different parts of the provincial capital and farmers reported damage of their crops. In Jamrud, the walls of a house caved in. However, no casualties were reported.

According to the meteorological department, there was no loss of life or injury in most parts of the province. However, several houses and buildings were damaged by the gusty winds.

The department stated that Peshawar received 4 millimetres of rain, 27 mm in Kohat, 18 mm in Cherat, 13mm in Parachinar and 3mm in Lower Dir.
