Petition seeks: Rangers’ eviction from Women Development Complex

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (SHC) on Friday issued notices to the interior ministry, the ICT Administration, the Punjab Rangers Commandant and others on a petition seeking eviction of Rangers from a vocational training centre for women in Tarlai.

IHC judge Mohsin Akhtar Kayani issued notices to the respondents for June 2.

Petitioner Shakeel Ahmed Janjua contended that rangers have been occupying the building for the last three years.  According to the petitioner, the Islamabad chief commissioner established the Women Development Complex (WDC) in 1990 to provide vocational training to rural women. And later, the interior ministry and the Islamabad chief commissioner illegally provided the building to Rangers.

He said that applications were sent to the interior ministry and the chief commissioner to address the issue, but neither part acted on them.
