In federal capital : Archaeological survey project gets approval

Funds to be allocated in next financial year

ISLAMABAD: The project for conducting the first archaeological survey in the federal capital has received final nod from the Planning Division. Funds will be allocated in the next financial year.

Sources said the project for “Survey, Documentation and Protection of Archaeological Sites and Monuments” in the ICT amounting Rs14.846 million was submitted to the Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage by Department of Archaeology and Museums (DOAM).

The amount of Rs7 million has been approved by the authorities as yet, which would be allocated in the next years’ budget, the source revealed.

He said work would start after the allocation of funds and would help preserve the cultural heritage of the country.
