‘Tricked’ woman seeks action against husband

The petitioner submitted that before soliciting her hand in marriage Alfred Masih had introduced himself as a Muslim

LAHORE: An additional district and sessions’ judge on Monday sought comments from the Liaquatabad SHO on a petition seeking action against a man for tricking a Christian woman into marrying him in violation of the Christian creed.

Petitioner Kaneez Bibi submitted that before soliciting her hand in marriage Alfred Masih had introduced himself as a Muslim. She said Masih had later presented to her a document he claimed was issued by the church where he converted from Islam to Christianity so they could get married.

She said they had gotten married and lived together at her house for a few months. A few weeks ago, Masih had brought his first wife and their nine children to her house and they were since living there, she added.

Kaneez Bibi said that he had no income source and remained home all day. She said she had been requesting him to find a job but he refused to listen to her.

She sought eviction orders for her husband, his first wife and their nine children, who, she said, were living at her house without her consent. She said her husband had threatened to kill her when she asked him to take his first wife and children away. She requested the court to direct Liaqatabad police to provide her protection.
