SUKKUR: A convoy of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) received a hostile reception on Bunder Road on Sunday night as their motorcade was pelted with stones, tomatoes and eggs.

A few people, including media personnel, were injured and the windshields of several vehicles were damaged during the incident.

PSP founder Mustafa Kamal, along with other party leaders including Anees Kaimkhani,  Ashfaq Mangi and Dr Sagheer Ahmed reached Sukkur on Sunday. Their convoy was on the way to Bunder Road when, near Makrani Mosque, it was attacked by a mob carrying wooden sticks and stones.

People also hurled stones, eggs and tomatoes on the convoy from rooftops of houses and residential plazas. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the Sukkur SSP along with a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.  A PSP convoy was also attacked on March 31 this year in Mirpurkhas district.

Allegations against Altaf

Earlier, Kamal had addressed a public gathering near Shikarpur railway crossing where he alleged that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain is a traitor.

It does not matter if the government is not ready to punish him or not, I will continue informing the masses, he claimed. Graveyards in Karachi are already full yet Altaf wants more killings on sectarian grounds. He urged that the MQM chief should confess to getting funds from [Indian spy agency] RAW and stop misguiding the youth. Former leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Sultan Shah, announced to join PSP. Kamal also announced that a PSP office will be established in London next month.
