‘Torturing student’ lands teacher behind bars in Lahore

This was the second time the third-grade student has been severally beaten up by his teacher in a couple of days

LAHORE: Police took a schoolteacher into custody on Saturday after he severally tortured a third-grade student in the Harbanspura area of Lahore.

The victim’s father, Abdul Ghafoor, filed a complaint with the police, saying that his son was tortured by Hafiz Muhammad Anjum, police said.

According to the details, the child returned home on Saturday visibly distraught as he neither ate food nor talked to the family. While his mother gave him bath, she noticed the torture marks on his body.

On how did he get these marks, the victim said his teacher had beaten him up for not being able to learn a lesson.

This was the second time the teacher had severally beaten the child. The complainant family further told the police that the teacher had also beaten him up a few days ago after which the school’s head master assured that this wouldn’t happen again.

SHO Atif Zulfiqar said they have shifted the victim to the hospital for a medical examination and would register a case when they received medico-legal report.

Meanwhile, the Executive District Officer (EDO) has also taken notice of the issue.
