LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notices to Health Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah and Punjab Institute of Cardiology chairman Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan on a petition seeking contempt of court proceedings against them for not holding a fair inquiry into a medicine purchase scam.

Fareeha Majid, a pharmacist who has been terminated from the PIC, had filed the petition through Advocate Sheraz Zaka submitting she had been terminated from her job for raising the issue of corruption at the hospital.

She said the inquiry was not being carried out transparently. She said she was not being included in the probe. Her counsel said the secretary and the PIC chairman had been acting with the connivance of each other. He said they had not complied with court orders.
