Body count: Three dead in Chitral

A college student and his father plunged into a river

CHITRAL: At least three people, including a college student, died in separate incidents in Chitral on Friday. A police official told The Express Tribune, a businessman reportedly committed suicide in Mashtaj Panda village. He has been identified as Shamsur Rehman. “So far, we have not been able to ascertain why the deceased took such a drastic step,” the official said. In another incident, a college student and his father plunged into a river. They could not be saved, therefore drowned. The incident occurred in Kusham village. A police official told The Express Tribune they have only managed to find the body of the college student. “Shahabuddin and his son – who was a college student –were crossing a river [in which they drowned],” he said. “The district authorities are still searching for Shahabuddin’s remains.” His body was not found till this report was filed.
