HARIPUR:

At least four people died in separate incidents in Haripur on Tuesday.  A police official told The Express Tribune, 17-year-old Naheed Bibi reportedly committed suicide by jumping in front of the moving train near a railway crossing in Pandak union council.

The teenager was a resident of Mohallah Chandani Chowk, Khalabat Township. The police have yet to ascertain why she took such a drastic step.

Separately, 19-year-old Imtiaz Bibi died when she was hit by a stray bullet. Safdar Zaman, the deceased’s brother, told the police Imtiaz Bibi went to her relative’s house in Behra village, which was owned by Muhammad Nawaz. “Nawaz was cleaning a 30-bore pistol which accidentally went off,” he said. “As a result, Imtiaz Bibi was shot in the head.”

In another incident, a guard was gunned down by unidentified men while he was on duty. A police official said the victim was identified as Bashir, resident of Jadoonabad village.

“Bashir was on duty at the main gate of a college in Haripur when he was attacked,” he said. In a separate incident, a man identified as Haider was shot dead by unidentified people. His body was dumped near a shrine in the district.
