Arm of the law : Two suspected militants arrested in Mardan

At least two suspected militants were arrested on Tuesday morning after a terrorism bid was foiled by police in Gela Kandao area of Mardan.


Acting on a tip-off, Mardan DPO ordered police personnel to carry out a search operation in the area. The officers carried out a raid and the search operation was led by Shahbaz Garh SHO Fazal Sher Khan, Rustam SHO Muqaddam Khan and Chora SHO Andaz Khan.


The two suspects spotted the raiding team and opened fire on them. The police retaliated and arrested both the men. At least two kilogrammes of explosives, safety fuses, 10 detonators, two pistols and 30 rounds of ammunition were confiscated from their possession. On Monday, a police constable was shot dead by two unidentified armed men in police lines in Mardan. Reports emerged that two prisoners were released soon after the incident took place.


Police personnel were dispatched and carried out a search operation in nearby areas to find the militants. The operation continued
till morning.
