It has been termed as the Oscars of the East Coast — encompassing leading names in music, film, and the runway. Arriving in ornate costumes crafted by the world’s premier fashion designers, some of the stars glitzed brighter than the rest of the pack. It would be safe to say that singer Taylor Swift and tennis prodigy Maria Sharapova slayed at first look — we’re still recovering!

Taylor Swift

Hollywood sensation and the co-host of this year’s Met Gala, Taylor, glided into a futuristic silver Louis Vuitton mini-dress with a cutaway design. The fashion-forward attire featured an attached rah-rah skirt and cut out waist, which she set off with a pair of thigh-high black gladiator sandals and matching gothic pout. Along with her newly dyed, edgy platinum locks, this ensemble beckoned a new voguish look for Taylor, a far cry from her typical lackluster style — yikes!

Maria Sharapova

The sensational tennis champion, looked every bit a winner in the satin gown by Colombian designer Juan Carlos Obando that featured a floor-skimming hem and sultry cut outs. The Russian lass swanked her bare shoulders in the figure-moulding dress with oversized long sleeves and a choke collar. The blonde wore a large golden dangling earring on the right side and a studded earring on the left. Leaving her long blonde hair parted down the middle and pulled back into a low ponytail, Maria looked like the ultimate treat.
