Increasing pressure: Workers being threatened to change loyalties: MQM

Raids have been carried out at the residences of dozens of MQM workers over the last week

HYDERABAD:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) claimed that party workers are being threatened to change their political loyalties.

Addressing a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club On Saturday, MQM MPAs Sabir Qaimkahni, Rashif Khilji and Dilawar Qureshi levelled charges against law enforcement agencies of harassing party workers and local leaders to force them to defect to the rival Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

"After Karachi, this sort of harassment has also begun in Hyderabad," claimed Qaimkhani. "Raids have been carried out at the residences of dozens of MQM workers over the last week."

According to him, plain-clothed men, who come in vehicles, are noticed moving around suspiciously outside the residences and workplaces of MQM workers. The MPAs accused the law enforcement agencies of supporting the PSP and of using these tactics to make this fledgling party successful.
