KARACHI: A former coordinator of senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar was allegedly detained by law enforcement personnel in plainclothes in District Central on Sunday evening.

Aftab Hussain was said to be taken into custody during a raid near Mukka Chowk in Federal B Area. The accused was later shifted to an undisclosed location; however, no law enforcement agency issued any statement regarding his detention.

Similarly, a gravedigger who works at the Shuhada graveyard of the MQM in Yasinabad was taken into custody by the paramilitary force. The gravedigger, identified as Nasir Abbas, was later shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning. This was the second raid conducted at the graveyard by the paramilitary force in a span of a week, however, no one was arrested in the previous raid.

In another raid, a member of a banned militant outfit was arrested during a raid in Clifton. The accused was identified as Hanif alias Ganja.

District South SSP Dr Farooq said the accused was involved in a hand grenade attack at Landhi police station last year. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
