Five children, woman dead as fire engulfs house in Muzaffargarh

The fire broke out due to a short-circuit which also left another person critically injured in Kot Addu neighbourhood

At least five children and a woman were killed when their home in Muzaffargarh district of Punjab caught fire on Friday.

The fire broke out due to a short-circuit which immediately engulfed the house in Kot Addu area of Sanawan. It also left another person critically injured, Express News reported.

Rescue teams recovered bodies of the deceased – children, said to be of ages between one to 14 years and the 25-year-old woman – from wreckage of the house.

According a police official, flames took control of the entire house after fire erupted in one of the rooms containing wood and plastic material.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and sought an inquiry report in this regard.

On March 8, a woman and three of her children died and her husband and a son were seriously injured in a fire that erupted at their house in Millat town of Faisalabad.
