PCB checking Pakistan Cup performers for dope violations

Board official says step being taken on the directive of the ICC

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is conducting dope tests during the on-going Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad specifically of players who are performing extraordinarily well.

A PCB official informed APP that the dope tests are being conducted on the directives of the International Cricket Council (ICC), to check against the possible use of illegal substances.

The official revealed that besides Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Sami, Khurram Manzoor, Sami Aslam, Bilawal Bhatti and Mohammad Hassan, doping tests of other cricketers are also being conducted.

He further said that tests of one to two cricketers are being conducted after every match.

As many as five teams, including Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan, and Islamabad are participating in the Pakistan Cup ODI tournament.
