“It is PMDC’s prime responsibility is to register medical and dental practitioners in a transparent way,” the minister said in his address. He said a secure and modern system of registration of practitioners is of immense public importance and this new section will be “a milestone in public safety”.
PMDC President Prof Dr Syed Sibitul Hasnain said that the new registration section uses highly secure software for the registration of practitioners. Entry into the registration section is restricted using a thumb impression reader. He said that staff in the section has also been increased to improve efficiency. The minister was also given a presentation on PMDC and its role in the regulation of medical and dental practice and education in the country. Members of the Executive Committee of PMDC Prof Masood Hameed Khan, Prof Rafique A Memon, Prof Dr Laiq Hussain, Prof Dr Inayatur Rehman Khalil and Aitzaz Ahsan were also present on the occasion.
