Strike At District Courts: Reader assaults advocate in F-8

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Bar Association observed a full-day strike after a reader civil judge, Khurram Cheema, assaulted Advocate Sardar Arshad Mehmood. Lawyers boycotted court proceedings at F-8 District Courts and demanded the arrest of the reader. Advocate Mehmood was injured by the reader of Civil Judge Ehtasham Alam after an exchange of words. The judge was on leave at the time. IBA President Advocate Syed Mohammad Tayyab and others met Additional and Sessions Judge Pervaizul Qadar Memon over the incident. The concerned advocate has also moved an application to SHO Margalla for the registration of an FIR. Lawyers’ bars also announced full-day strikes throughout the capital’s courts on April 25 to condemn the incident.
