
At least three people were killed and 27 injured in a road accident in Neelum Valley area of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Friday evening.
A bus (MDX-2984) was on its way from Athmuqam to Kel, when it was hit by landslide near Dowarian area, some 80 kilometers from capital city of AJK, police said.
The landslide rubble pushed the passenger bus towards River Neelum killing three passengers on the spot. Two women and a man were among the deceased.
Local people and district administration officials rushed to the spot to pull the bodies out from the damaged vehicle.
Neelum Deputy Commissioner Hameed Kiyani, SP Jameel Mir and Pakistan Army were monitoring the rescue operation till late Friday evening.
The police said that eight critically injured passengers were shifted to Athmuqam District Headquarters Hospital. “We have received 27 passengers and among those eight are in critical condition.
All available resources are being used to save their lives,” said Medical Superintendent Dr Sardar Ashraf Khan.The district administration informed that 35 passengers were travelling in the bus.
