Behind bars : CTD arrests two suspects involved in killing policemen

Seven suspects affiliated with political parties also apprehended

KARACHI:
The law enforcement agencies have sped up their action in the city following deadly attack in Orangi Town on Wednesday, in which seven police officials were killed.

They have arrested nearly a dozen suspects, including two suspects involved in the Orangi Town attack.

The Counter-Terrorism Department apprehended two suspects during a targeted raid on Friday, conducted on a tip-off. The suspects arrested were said to be affiliated with the banned militant outfit and involved in the attack on police. The suspects were shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning.

Political arrests

Separately, three workers of a political party were arrested during a targeted raid in Shah Faisal Colony. The suspects have been identified as Ibrahim, Shamraiz and Alam. The police also seized arms and explosives from their possession. According to the police, the suspects have been involved in at least ten cases of targeted killings.


Another suspect associated with a political party was also arrested during a raid conducted in Qasba Colony in Orangi Town by an intelligence agency. The accused has been identified as Nadeem. The suspect was wanted in several cases of targeted killings.

In another raid, intelligence agency detained a worker of a political party from Bagh-e-Jinnah. The accused was shifted to undisclosed location. It was learnt that the suspect was planning for a criminal activity when he was apprehended, while further investigation is underway.

Paramilitary forced arrested two alleged target killers during a targeted raid at Liaquatabad. The suspects were said to be affiliated with a militant wing of a political party. They were shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning.

Car lifters

Meanwhile, Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) claims to have arrested three suspects, identified as Rafiq, Sufiyan and Yasir during separate raids in North Nazimabad and Garden areas. ACLC chief SP Irfan Bahadur said that the three suspects are wanted in more than 60 cases of vehicles' lifting. Vehicles and arms were also seized from their possession.
