Excellence award: UET student awarded cash prize

PESHAWAR:
A student of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar received an excellence award from Fast Cables, an electric cable manufacturer, for her outstanding academic achievement.
Saba Gul, a final year student of UET’s electrical engineering department, was awarded a sum of Rs100,000 during a ceremony at the varsity on Thursday. Fast Cables Director Kamal Amjad Mian presented the cheque.
In his welcome address, Department of Electrical Engineering Chairman Professor Dr Syed Waqar Shah lauded the efforts made by Fast Cables in socio-economic development. He also thanked the company for choosing a student of UET Peshawar and congratulated Saba Gul on winning the award.
The Fast Cables directors said boosting sales was not the only goal of his company and it has also played a pivotal role in nation-building.
“The [excellence] award was launched last year at five universities,” he said. “This year, the number of universities has been increased.”
