Prime minister says his government has always taken decisions after consultation with all stakeholders

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said he always preferred values over power, and took decisions after consultation with all stakeholders.

"We have always preferred values over power and have always taken decisions of national importance in consultation with all stakeholders," a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House quoted the premier as saying while chairing a cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Thursday.

The PM's remarks come minutes after COAS General Raheel Sharif 'dismissed' 11 high-ranking military officers over corruption.

The recent developments follow Panama Papers revelations shrouding the prime minister’s family among many other prominent political figures holding off-shore wealth.

Around 220 Pakistanis, including three children of Nawaz Sharif, have been named in the massive leak of documents from a Panama-based law firm.

The prime minister has rejected any allegations of money laundering, claiming his children have legitimate businesses abroad, and has called for the establishment of an inquiry commission.

The premier vowed to strive for country’s economic stability and prosperity.

“We will not let anyone hinder the country’s stability and prosperity. The process of bringing Pakistan out of darkness, reviving its economy and removing shortcomings in different sectors, which started three years back, will not stop and will continue with the same zeal."

Army chief dismisses 11 military officers over corruption charges

Nawaz said international economies acknowledged the progress being made by the country in terms of economy, energy sector, infrastructure and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects.

The premier added his government was working hard to ensure an end to the ongoing power crises in the country by 2018.

Don't you know that Sharif family is Pakistan's biggest industrial family and Mian Sahib's sons are leading real estate tycoons of U.K. Sharif family has businesses all over the world including steel mills in Saudi Arabia and New Zealand. The money disclosed in Panama leaks is peanut for this family. The anarchist who lives on somebody else's money and those guys who only get salary each month cannot imagine how much assets this family possess.

For the Hereafter, prayer and the Holy Land, and endless prayer at that; for the here and now, and for getting their heart tissues examined, the Christian West. For exercising their right of rulership and playing their politics, Pakistan; but for keeping their money safe, and hidden from prying eyes, offshore accounts in the same Christian West. Now hoisted on the petard of those same offshore accounts, their hearts and nervous systems have come under mighty strain. And we are expected to show sympathy for their plight.

Khan | 8 years ago | Reply oh please.. u preferred values over power? give us a break please... u and others like you have fooled us enough. take some action or buzz off. this is enough.. we need great (not good) economy, education (yes all of us including a child born today in Thar or any other remote village in pakistan), great health facilities.. when you go to London or any other Western country, can't you see there how people live their lives, how secure they are, how everyone is going about their lives without worrying about water, electricity, gas load shedding, safety etc... for God's sake, please open your eyes and do something for your country so that our kids will remember you. you will have your name in history... how much money you want to live a comfortable life. you already have it... please think about others i.e. millions in pakistan who do not have access to clean water, basic medicines...
