The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) annulled appointment of two faculty members for failure to meet the criteria laid down by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
The appointments were made under tenure track system to the posts of associate professor.
The decision was made in a syndicate meeting attended by the QAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Javed Ashraf and the HEC Chairperson, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed here on Wednesday, said a press statement issued by the higher education regulatory body.
The university had made the appointments without waiting for the HEC’s endorsement despite earlier issuing a notification that the appointments were subject to the commission’s approval, the HEC press release claimed.
The university had appointed an assistant professor to the post of associate professor who had only published one research paper, whereas the criteria required him to have published at least 10.
Similarly, another assistant professor was appointed associate professor after only two years of service instead of the required four.
