ISLAMABAD: The first elected Mayor of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation and his deputies still wait for empowerment to formally start their work of providing basic facilities to the residents of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). The elections for Mayor and three Deputy Mayors were held two months back. Mayor Shaikh Ansar Aziz took oath on March 4 and assumed his office at the old Naval Complex in Sector G-6. The offices of CDA’s Directorate of Engineering were vacated and renovated for ICT’s elected representatives and their staff. According to a CDA official, services of at least 70 per cent employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), around 11,000, would be put at the disposal of Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) in next three to four months.
