LODHRAN:

Two sisters were killed by their relatives, Lodhran police said on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said police had arrested the killers from Kehror Pucca area where they were trying to bury their bodies.

The spokesman said 22-year-old Maira* and 20-year-old Anum, residents of Shahpur Phal, had eloped with Hussain, a resident of Khairpur Tamaiwali and Asif, a resident of Chak 12 BC. He said the sisters had later taken refuge in a Darul Aman. The spokesman said their families had contacted them there and had persuaded them to return home.

The spokesman said later, their cousins Hanif and Ajmal had strangled them. He said the men were trying to bury the bodies when they were spotted by a neighbour who informed Saddar police about it.

Muhammad Aslam, a resident of the area, said he had heard screams from his neighbour’s house late on Tuesday night. “In the morning, I was told that the two sisters had died. I suspected foul play so I called the police.” The police spokesman said the suspects had confessed to the killings. He said the bodies had been handed over to the family after an FIR was registered.
